About error 2240,2540

Question

Question

Error 2240 or ERROR 2540 is displayed on the GC-A2 series display.
Can you please tell me what kind of error this is?

Answer

Answer

Error 2240 is an error on COM port1 of the display unit, and error 2540 is an error on COM port2 of the display unit.
This phenomenon is caused by the “password setting” mode, a function of our PLC.
There are two types of password settings: “normal password” and “multi-mode password”.
When the PLC password setting is “normal password”, error code 2540 will be displayed when “bit data ON/OFF” or “register write” is performed from the display unit.
To avoid this, set the password to “multi-mode password”.
An 8-digit password beginning with “A” is a “multi-mode”.
Just like with a “normal password”, it is not possible to change the PLC ladder, but it is possible to “force bit data ON/OFF” and “force register write”.
If your PLC does not have a “multi-mode password” function, set it so that the password function is not used.
